Getting to know Pineto

A green island between the pine grove and the sea

Pineto is a hidden gem on the Adriatic coast, a green island inside the Cerrano Tower Marine Protected Area. It is a haven for families, people who love nature and relaxation, and active travellers.

It is a peaceful town of just over ten thousand residents, and its name already reveals its defining feature: the greenery of its long, broad pine groves. The most important is the seafront pine grove, which follows the beach for more than four kilometres and lets you cross much of the town on foot, running or cycling beneath the trees.

What makes Pineto special to me is how naturally you move from the town into the pine grove and from the trees onto the beach. In only a few steps you can leave a central street, enter the greenery, join the cycle path and reach the sea. Continue south and the pine grove leads to Cerrano Tower, the historic symbol of the area and the heart of a protected landscape.

Pineto’s sea is ideal for a holiday with children thanks to its wide fine-sand beach, shallow water and the shade provided by the pine grove. But it would be a mistake to see Pineto only as a family destination. The town also has much to offer anyone who enjoys running, cycling, walking and outdoor sport.

Pineto is equally suited to people who need to slow down. The pine grove invites you to read, listen to the sea, walk without haste and rediscover silence. Green spaces, open horizons and clean air create a sense of wellbeing that goes beyond ordinary holiday rest.

It is a place for anyone wishing to restore themselves and find harmony between body and mind: walking at dawn, watching the sun rise over the sea, meditating beneath the pines, practising yoga, cycling slowly or simply stopping to hear the wind in the trees. Pineto has a positive energy that is easiest to feel when you stop rushing.

The coast is only part of the story. Behind the sea begin the hills and the routes towards Mutignano, the historic village from which modern Pineto developed. Villa Filiani, Filiani Park and Peace Park reveal the close relationship between the Filiani family and the birth of Pineto.

Its position also makes Pineto a useful base for discovering Abruzzo. From the coast you can reach villages, towns, parks and mountains, then return in the evening to the calm of the sea and pine grove.
