Pescara Airport: flights, destinations and getting there

Abruzzo’s gateway, from European routes to connections with Pescara Centrale.

Pescara Airport, also known as Abruzzo Airport “Pasquale Liberi”, has the IATA code PSR. It is the main gateway to Abruzzo by air, connecting the region with northern Italy and European cities, just a few kilometres from Pescara’s centre and the Adriatic coast.

Many British travellers first discovered Abruzzo through low-cost flights from London. That is part of this airport’s appeal: you land close to the city and can continue towards the beaches, hill towns or national parks without crossing a major metropolis. The airport is managed by SAGA, Società Abruzzese Gestione Aeroporto.

How to reach the city centre and railway station

TUA4FLY buses and onward train travel

TUA4FLY connects the airport with Pescara Centrale’s bus terminal, by the railway underpass. A ticket costs €3 and is valid for 90 minutes in the Pescara–Chieti metropolitan area. Buy it in the TuaGO app or on board using a credit or debit card; activate app tickets before boarding.

Departures vary by day: consult the official TUA4FLY timetables for both directions. TUA states that scheduled bus departures do not change when flights are delayed. Combined train and bus tickets remain available through Trenitalia AirLink.

From Pescara Centrale, you can continue by train along the coast to seaside towns or use regional coaches. For Chieti and other stops, check ordinary services on the TUA website as well, distinguishing them from the airport shuttle.

Taxis and car rental

Taxis wait outside the terminal. The airport lists +39 085 35155 and +39 085 4211870 as taxi contacts. Its website quotes €20 to central Pescara; for other destinations request a quote and check any supplements before leaving. Official transport information and taxi fares.

Car rental desks are on the ground floor opposite arrivals. Even if you have booked ahead, visit the company’s desk before collecting the vehicle. A car gives you more flexibility if you plan to explore several hill towns and parks.
