Frecciarossa Business is aimed at people travelling for work, although the extra room is just as welcome when the laptop stays closed. Its clearest advantage over Premium is “living space”: Frecciarossa 1000 has three seats per row rather than four.
ETR 500 Business seats are 64 cm wide, while Frecciarossa 1000 reaches 69 cm. A single dimension or carriage number therefore cannot describe the whole fleet.
Business provides more lateral room, leather seats, a welcome service, a Quiet Area and access to a reservable Meeting Area. Prices are dynamic and may be Base, Economy or Super Economy.
What Frecciarossa Business is like
Frecciarossa 1000 carriages 2 and 3 have 69 cm antibacterial leather seats, three across, more than one metre apart and reclining to 109°. Glass dividers add privacy, while luggage fits beneath seats, above them and in internal racks. On ETR 500, Business occupies carriages 2-4 and part of 5, with 64 cm seats, 106 cm pitch and a 115° recline.

The Frecciarossa Business video
The original film emphasises business travel and shows the three-abreast layout. It remains a useful visual introduction; current details follow below.
How much Frecciarossa Business costs
Business is a service level rather than a fixed fare. Prices change between trains, days and available inventory. Search the exact journey on the Trenitalia website and consider the offer conditions as well as the amount.
| Offer | Price | Flexibility |
|---|---|---|
| Base | Reference fare | Reservation and ticket changes and refund under the conditions |
| Economy | Discounted, limited inventory | One change; non-refundable unless €1 tiRimborso was added |
| Super Economy | Lower limited tiers | No changes; non-refundable unless €3 tiRimborso was added |

Early booking gives more access to limited offers; Base costs more in exchange for flexibility.
Welcome service, Quiet Area and Meeting Area
The Business welcome includes a fresh sweet or savoury item, alcoholic or non-alcoholic drinks and coffee, with gluten- and lactose-free alternatives subject to availability. It is not served on Rome Termini-Fiumicino trains. Wi-Fi Fast and FrecciaPlay are included.
Frecciarossa 1000 has a Quiet Area in carriage 2. The Meeting Area has five seats on Frecciarossa 1000 or six on ETR 500, a 32-inch monitor and power: exclusive use costs €30 with Business and is free with Executive. Ordinary Business tickets do not all include FrecciaLounge; only the qualifying ticket types listed by Trenitalia do.
Business and the other Frecciarossa levels
- Standard: four seats per row and no welcome service.
- Premium: four seats per row, leather and a snack with water.
- Business: more room, a fuller welcome and dedicated areas.
- Executive: maximum room, gourmet dining, lounge access and the Meeting Area included.
Italo's closest current comparison is Prima Business, with wider seats, single seats and an at-seat welcome; its fares and rules remain different.
