The bike route has as its starting point the transition area in front of the Annunziana pine forest at the end of the swimming test. The arrival is just north of the start, as seen on the map.
Compared to the2015 edition the arrival and departure points change but otherwise the route is identical.
After a few hundred meters before the sea bridge the athletes will turn left to face the beautiful hills of Abruzzo hinterland. The 90km route is designed for a single lap.
On the outward journey they will pass through the hamlet of Santa Teresa, Pianella, Cartiera, Passocordone, II Tarallo, Collecinciero, Cepagatti, Nocciano. From Nocciano you go back towards the coast for a shorter and more direct route passing through: Villa Oliveti, Villarela and Chieti Scalo.
The scenery is the usual: vineyards, olive groves and green hills all framed by the nearby Abruzzo mountains (remember that since there is no Pre-Apennine, the sea and mountains in Abruzzo are a continuation).
