Celano-Aielli Gorges

Inside the gorge the mountain turns vertical: the route demands rules, stable weather and constant attention.

Celano-Aielli Gorges in briefThe Celano-Aielli Gorges are a canyon crossed by trail 12. Access is regulated, so booking, opening, walking direction and required equipment must be checked on the official page immediately before visiting.

A real gorge

High walls, uneven ground, possible rockfall and patchy phone signal separate this route from an urban walk. Rain, thaw and wind can make it unsuitable even when the entrance looks calm.

Rules come before the itinerary

Dates, quotas and procedures can change. The Park's page is the current reference and overrides stories, old tracks and printed plans; helmets and other requirements are not optional accessories.

From the canyon to Val d'Arano

The gorge connects the Celano side with the more open landscape towards Ovindoli and Val d'Arano. A traverse still requires a planned return, timing and transport rather than an improvised second exit.
